This show is produced by Art Hodge who has been involved with Boise Community Radio since early 2005. Art is a Grammy Award winning music producer who has worked with a number of major acts in the music and film industry. Art moved to Boise in 2003 where he records bands, artists, and himself at his home studio. You can find out more about Art at his website or on his myspace page.

Art's Boise Community Radio show features breakbeat music which is, loosely, defined as music which has been used to make and produce other music. An example is the use of the break in "Good Times", performed by Chic, and sampled and used in the classic rap track, "Rapper's Delight", performed by the Sugar Hill Gang. Art has used breakbeats, both as a performing DJ, and as a music producer, and he has collected these rare grooves for over 15 years. Art's show is recorded in his home studio in Boise and is almost always taken from vinyl and then converted to MP3. Most modern DJs are familiar with breaks, which are essentially musical interludes or drum breaks within songs that are looped and processed into beats and samples for other recordings. The general public does not have much exposure to breakbeat music because most of the songs are one-off songs by unfamiliar artists. The genres are mostly rock, jazz, and r&b, released as long as 50 years ago.

Art's show, "Break Me Off Some", webcasts at 1:00 p.m. every Wednesday, and 8:00 p.m. every Friday at www.radioboise.org on the Live365 stream
