Radio Boise is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. After years of support from the community, and a license from the FCC, we are on the verge of beginning to broadcast our musical, cultural and community affairs programming on the radio dial at 89.9 FM! By next spring, the Treasure Valley will have a resource as vital as any library, city park or farmer's market.

To ensure the FM broadcast begins before we lose our license in April of 2011, we need to raise another $75,000 by the end of this year, matching $227,000 in federal grant funds for broadcast equipment.

We receive $3 federal dollars for each dollar you give!

  Your donation will count for local matching funds for our big grant - we'll receive $3 dollars for each dollar you give. How's that for leverage? You are welcome to earmark funds for equipment purchases like our transmitter and antenna, but we've also got to have operating funds for office rent, tower space, etc. before we can start broadcasting.

  Our overall capital goal is $250,000.

  Major areas of expenses are:
  
• On-Site Transmission: 8,000 watt transmitter, antenna and equipment shelter
• Studio facilities: on-air control room, production room and main studio
• Interconnect: satellite dishes and controls to send studio signal to transmission site
• First-year operating expenses

Grant Specifics (official Commerce Department/PTFP announcement):


• Awarded from Public Telecommunications Facilities Program, an arm of The United States Department of Commerce.
• $227,000 Federal award requiring $75,000 local matching dollars
• To be used for purchase of broadcasting equipment such as a transmitter, antenna and our studio gear over a 18-month grant cycle.
• Radio Boise will also need to raise up to $175,000 for the first year of operations on 89.9 FM.
• With this award, we expect to begin broadcasting in late spring or early summer.
